About Vredenheim Wines

This farm is home to the Bezuidenhout family; a truly Afrikaans-speaking family who take hospitality very seriously and delight in making guests feel welcome. Coen and Rikie Bezuidenhout purchased the farm in 1986. They never dreamed that the farm would become what it is today with fruit orchards, a picnic area, Big Cats park, beautiful gardens, nursery, restaurant and conference centre.

Their daughter Elzabe began winemaking and became one of the first female winemakers along the Stellenbosch wine route. Coen’s son, daughter and grandson took over the operations on the farm when he passed away. The winemaker is Kowie du Toit.

The Main house on the farm was built in 1789 and was declared a National Monument in 1975. You will find game on the farm such as blouwildebeest, springbok, eland, bontebok, fellow deer, oryx, zebras and ostriches.

Restaurant Barrique at Vredeheim was opened in 1998 and such a welcome spot to enjoy South African cuisine. The setting is superbly Cape Dutch with a beautiful view of the mountains.
