About Tuk-Tuk Stellies
Tuk Tuk Stellies is a cute Thai-style taxi that will collect you from your Stellenbosch accommodation for a wine tasting adventure with a difference. This is an open-air cart that is motorised, most often recognised as the taxis they use in Thailand. But, the Tuk Tuk Stellies has a very different itinerary to those in the East. This Tuk Tuk is all about touring and celebrating the many wines farms in the area in and around Stellenbosch in the Cape Winelands, some of which produce world-renowned and award-winning wines.
These tours are guided, so guests can be sure that they’ll get a good idea of what the area has to offer.
There are various tours available on the Tuk Tuk Stellies
The Half-Day Tour : Monday to Saturday, 12:00 to 16:00
This tour includes three wine stops. One is at the Delheim Estate on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Muratie Estate from Wednesdays to Saturdays. Your wine tasting will be paired with a delectable mezze platter. The next winery is Simonsig Estate, where you will enjoy a wine and biltong pairing, and then onto L’Avenier Estate for a cheese and wine pairing.
The Half-Day Tour : Sunday, 10:00 to 13:00
For a Sunday morning with a difference, head out to the Winelands on a tuk tuk. The three wine stops along this tour begin with the Muratie Estate, where gorgeous wines are sampled. Then, you will go on to Simonsig for a biltong and wine pairing; the ultimate in authentic South African flavours. Finish off at L’Avenier, where the classic combination of cheese and wine is explored with unique approaches.
The Full Day Tour : Monday to Saturday, 10:00 to 16:00 (lunch is included)
Make a day of your tuk tuk adventure with friends when you book a full day tour of the wineries around Stellenbosch. There are five wine stops on this tour:
1. Waterford Estate – savour an indulgent chocolate and wine pairing, and tour the cellar.
2. Glenelly Estate – a delicious wine tasting is the perfect way to experience this farm.
3. Delheim (Monday and Tuesday) or Muratie Estate (Wednesday to Saturday) – an irresistible mezze platter and wine pairing awaits you.
4. Simonsig Estate – experience the unique South Africa influence of a wine and biltong pairing.
5. L’Avenier Estate – finish your day off with a decadent cheese and wine pairing to remember.
Wine tours on Tuk Tuk Stellies are conducted every day. They depart from the Stellenbosch Information Centre. Alternatively, you can be collected on the tuk tuk from your Stellenbosch guest house or B&B.
