About Stellekaya Wines

In the heart of the winelands, you will find a wine estate who names the wines according to the stars. Stellekaya is a privately owned boutique wine producer. Their cellar is in the middle of Stellenbosch and all grapes are sourced from the area. They focus on producing noble red wine varietals.

Their ranges include Orion, Hercules, Cape Cross, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz and Boschetto.

Orion was named after the constellation whose brightest star is a thousand times larger than the sun and is called Betelgeuse. This is Boardeaux blend is the pride of the Stellkaya range and spends 22 months in new French oak. 9000 litres of the Hercules is produced and is a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Cape Cross is named of the brightest star in the constellation Crux.

A ‘giant red’ called Gramma Crucis which has been said to guide many explorers through the Cape of Storms. It’s a red blend of Merlot, Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon which is basket pressed and spends 20 months maturing in French Oak. Cabernet Sauvignon is inspired by the brightest star in Scorpius, Antares. The renovated cellar produces about 20 000 cases of red wine per annum.
