About Remhoogte Wine Estate

Murray and Juliet Boustred purchased Remhoogte in 1994. They planted new vineyards, restored the buildings on the property and built a new cellar. A year later, the estate saw the first barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon being produced until production increased to about 500 cases per annum.

About 35 hectares are under vine and planted with mostly the the noble red varieties; Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage and more recently, Shiraz. About 2ha of Chenin Blanc has been added to their offerings.

Remhoogte is a vineyard where all pruning, picking and sorting of grapes is done by hand. The seven families who live on the property tend to the vineyards. Half the grapes are sold to a nearby winery, whilst the remainder is used to make Remhoogte wines. Chris Boustred is the winemaker who joined the team after working on vineyards in Australia, Chateau Fontenil in Bordeaux and in the Napa Valley, California.

Take walks through the vineyards and orchards, swim in the dam in summer and stay overnight in their zebra cottage. Wildlife roam the estate, so enjoy a bit of safari whilst wine tasting. The African theme is carried through into the tasting room. The estate also hosts intimate functions in the tasting room and beside the fire.
