About Koelenhof Winery

Koelenhof Winery started as a family run estate in 1941 in north Stellenbosch and first begun bottling wine in 1974. They were the first winery to produce white wine from red grapes, called Cinsaut Blanc and also first to use a fully automatic pressing cellar needing only one man to run it. The De Vries family found it and still run it.

Wilhelm is the red winemaker, Andrew the general manager and Martin Stevens is in charge of white, sparkling and dessert wine. Annually they press 15 000 tons and have two ranges of wine, Koelenhof and Koelenbosch which both regularly win awards. Koelenhof is perfect for everyday-drinking, whilst Koelenbosch includes more classic varieties.

Due to its reasonable pricing and top quality wines, Koelenhof has been listed in the Best Value Wine Guide with its Merlot, Pinotage and Koelnektar. Their 2007 Koelenbosch Wooded Chenin Blanc has had a 3 star rating and great price which has earned it a top score. This is an estate with something for the whole family. Kids can keep busy on the jungle gym and they’ll love the ducks and friendly dogs roaming around. So pack a picnic basket, bring the kids and enjoy their wine.
