About Luvuvhu 4x4 Trail
In Phalaborwa, Limpopo, is the start of the challenging Luvuvhu 4x4 Trail, which follows the western border of the world-renowned Kruger National Park and ends at Pafuri Gate. This park is one of the world’s top attractions, thanks to its natural abundance and the profusion of stunning animal and plant species within. To take a 4 x 4 trail that immerses you in this world is to ensure lifelong memories of a different kind.
The Luvuvhu 4x4 Trail is 250 kilometres long, taking some 100 hours to complete. It is a guided trail, which means that drivers cannot do it without the assistance of a trained guide. All drivers and their passengers are required to be completely self-sufficient along the entire course, as there are no regular ablution facilities or drinking water along the way.
The terrain is rugged and rough, including river crossings, mud, river beds and steep slopes. Summer highs often exceed 40 degrees Celsius, making driving conditions even more challenging. This trail is for those who really want to experience the thrill of African 4x4 adventures.
On the way, drivers are reminded to look out for loads of wildlife; including the Big Five (elephants, leopards, rhinos, buffalos and lions), plenty of antelope species and an impressive variety of birds.
