About nDzuti Safari Camp

nDzuti Safari Camp in Maseke Game Reserve part of the Greater Kruger Park and is the flagship of current conservation efforts; being the newest addtion to the Greater Kruger Associated Private Nature Reserves. nDuzuti Safari Camp offers a choice of accommodation from luxury safari tents to chalets for family use or fellow travellers wanting single lodging.

On this spectacular section of the Maseke Game Reserve, small groups of guests from nDzuti Safari Camp discover the intricaies and daily dramas of the African bush and its varied wildlife. Here visitors experieice the joy of trundling around the buis in an open 4 x 4 vehicle and on foot along the game pathes which crisscross the landscape, on a private quest to discover and wonder at the marvels of nature and the interaction among species.

Animal tracks on sandy pathways tell of last night’s nocturnal activities and elephant herds leave a trail of shiny patches in the sand and giant steaming droppings as they move through. Game sightings are not the product by endless indecipherable radio chatter but rather from enviable local bush knowledge the collective reasoning of the group-a most gratifying process. The oasis of nDzuti Safari Camp with the well established gardens, sparking swimming pool and a breakfast sizzling on the fire is a welcome respite and a veritable home from home in the bush.

The Maseke Reserve has 8000 hectares of mixed bushveld with striking massive rocky outcrops scattered through-out natural pans, waterholes and some Olifants River frontage. All the animals you would hope to see in the National Park are seen on Maseke and the raod network has some distance of basic bush tracks that make for exciting game viewing. The elephant are plentiful, giraffe and kudu abound and the predators are active at night.

nDzuti Safari Camp has just four en-suite safari tents. These large permanent tents have noteworthy features such as air-conditioning, doors and not zipped flaps, large windows with curtains as well as an en-suite bathroom with a mountain view and patio overlooking the waterhole.

The camp has four free standing chalets, each with two en-suite King sized bedrooms. The elevated patio leads into a lounge area with a bedroom off either side. The bathrooms are large and light with both shower and bath. The rooms have King sized beds with fine linen, mosquito netting and air-conditioning. This accommodation is idea for families; being all under one room. Single guests travelling with companions can share a chalet without sharing a room.

Currently meals are served on the pool deck with a view over the waterhole, where a seemingly endless stram of wildlife come to drink. In the evenings a fire adds to the ambiance and joy of dining outdoors. Soon a tented pavilion will offer an alrenative dining venue and a boma bucked with a grove of trees will have a fire and scattered conversations pits.

the camp

nDzuti Safari Camp is operated by Wildlife Encounters with over 25 years in the bush pursuing conservation based eco tourism and delivering sincere, unpretentious African safaris. nDzuti is located in Maseke Private Nature Reserve making it a part of the world famous Greater Kruger Park. There are no fences in this vast wilderness area and wildlife is free to move over large areas.

At any one time there is no guarantee that the animals, guests hope to see will be on the area we traverse. Unlike smaller fenced reserves the wild animals in the Greater Kruger Park follow ancient instincts and move following better grazing, mating urges and territorial needs. Getting off the vehicle and walking, leaving the roads and following the game paths is very much part of the safari we offer at nDzuti.

Our philosophy is to capture what was, to lean towards the safari of days gone by. Hotels in the bush have become commonplace in today’s safari business, a trend that Wildlife Encounters choose to avoid. We deliver an unpretentious, genuine safari experience where the bush and wildlife steal the show and the safari camp facilitates a comfortable and pleasing stay, arriving as a guest and leaving as a close friend.
