Self Catering Accommodation

Bona Ntaba Lodge is a small but unique facility featuring three tree house chalets and a thatched central lodge with fully equipped kitchen, boma with braai, and a tranquil lounge with a sunset deck. Each elevated, simple and stylish wooden tree house cabin is elevated to afford the best view of the bush and the mountains from the private covered balcony. Inside are either two single beds or a king sized bed.

The tree houses are ensuite with a bath tub, sink and toilet inside and an outside shower with breathtaking views of the bush. Two of the tree houses also have a loft. The loft is large enough to sleep two children or one adult or perhaps a couple. Linens and mozzy nets are supplied and windows have screening and coverings. There are plenty of electrical outlets and a personal safe.

The lodge building has a large lounge, spacious shared kitchen, sunset deck, refreshing splash pool, and enclosed bona with braai. The kitchen contains a refrigerator and locked cabinet for use by each tree house. Guests can also use the freezer chest, full size oven, microwave, burners and two sets of spare burners, microwave, and two double sinks. Dishes, tableware, cups, and cooking pots, pans, and implements are provided.

The large lounge has comfortable seating and is the perfect place to read and relax enjoying the views out the large glass sliders. The large dining table is perfect for indoor dining or you can use the tables on the deck or in the boma for outdoor dining.

After a relaxing day, enjoy sundowners on the sunset deck or from in the pool before having a braai under the stars in the boma. You will hear the call of the lions in the distance as part of the starlight serenade as you relax around the fire.

Bona Ntaba is perfect for groups or families traveling together. With only three tree houses, a family or group of six or eight can book the whole camp and enjoy the privacy of having exclusive use of all facilities.

Activites and Attractions

Bona Ntaba is on a private game reserve and it is not unusual for the giraffe and zebras to graze right off of our deck and under the tree houses. If you seek adventure, you will be staying close to all of the best activities in the area. We can arrange local game drives on our reserve as well as adventures on the nearby big five reserves. All of the rafting, hiking, and thrills of the Blyde Canyon are an easy drive away. The Orpen Gate of Kruger National Park is 30 minutes as are wildlife breeding centers and the town of Hoedspruit.

Guests can also enjoy the unique thrills of an elephant backed safari and a canopy tour on a zip line. Meals are available at the nearby lodges or catering may be arranged with management.

Everything we expected. It was over Christmas and provided with us and our kids with a superb adventure. Living in among trees, while Buffalo and impala wandered about, lions roared in the distance and hyenas cried their mournful voices, impala casually drank in the sunset with warthog as we watched from the pool deck. The heat was intensive so being able to head out and take an open shower at dawn at tree top level as the sun rose over the Bushveldt was a breathtaking experience. I especially put in my contact lenses before I showered just for this. Our kids enjoyed everything. From the little frogs to roman spiders to the buffalo they spotted at the pool. The hosts West and Gill were superb and any little challenges were quickly addressed. Thanks for a awesome memorable Christmas 2017.
