Accommodation

Royal Malewane Game lodge has a Main Lodge which is more classic and grand in style and The Farmstead which is more intimate and contemporary.

The Main Lodge at Royal Malewane is a classic and luxurious safari lodge with just six Luxury Suites, two Royal Suites (which each have two bedrooms), and Africa House – our exclusive use villa with six bedrooms.

The Farmstead at Royal Malewane is intimate and more contemporary in style and is just a 12 minute drive south of the Main Lodge. The Farmstead has three Luxury Farm Suites, and The Farmhouse – a three and a half bedroom private villa.

We comply with the strictest TBCSA and WHO hygiene protocols and provide ample space for social distancing.

Breakfast and Dining

Exquisite plating is second nature to the chefs at Royal Malewane for whom cuisine is certainly an art. The cuisine is complemented by a natural canvas to savour as much as the delicate flavours with the dining area overlooking the Malewane River where a variety of curious creatures great and small venture to slake their thirst. We can tailor a menu to your personal tastes and dietary requirements in consultation with our Executive Chef. And that goes for drinks too – have what you want, when you want, whether it's a Bloody Mary to ease yourself into the day, a delicious flat white or a bottle of vintage red wine from our cellar.

The Bush Tent Dinners at Royal Malewane provides a feast in the heart of the African wilderness. A truly remarkable and romantic experience with glowing lanterns casting a gentle light among the brightly burning braziers.

All drinks are included in the rate at Royal Malewane. We have an extensive wine list from flagship red blends to boutique producers of lesser known varietals. With an extensive range of whiskies from around the world to choose from, Royal Malewane offers the largest whisky selection of any safari lodge.

Spa

Facilities at the safari spa are comprehensive and include a fully-equipped gym, a heated lap pool, steam room, and private casitas for relaxation or treatments.

Game Viewing

All the game rangers at Royal Malewane hold the highest FGASA qualifications as well as advanced rifle handling certificates. These qualifications ensure guests an exceptional game experience – not only while on game drive, but also on foot. Two daily game drives are included. Private game drives are subject to occupancy levels at the lodge and we are only able to confirm a private drive approximately two weeks prior to arrival. The private drives are at an additional fee. A private vehicle needs to be booked for the entire duration of the guests stay.

The bushveld is an incredible experience for younger guests. The perfect blend of learning and fun, it’s an opportunity to connect with the world in a very real way, and discover adventures that don’t require screens.

The bushveld is a wonderful blend of playground and classroom, and our Guides particularly enjoy introducing children and teenagers to the wonders of Nature. With a full programme of activities for kids of all ages, and optional extra child-minding services, there are also opportunities for parents to enjoy some alone time in complete peace of mind.

Our Royal Rangers programme has been designed to reveal the wonders of the bushveld to our younger guests, and ignite their curiosity about wildlife and ecosystems. With each activity led by Guides who greatly enjoy the energy and enthusiasm of children, Royal Malewane transforms education into an adventure.

Our optional Royal Rangers programme provides each kid with a fully equipped bush backpack so that they have everything they need to help out on safari, and keep a record of all the animals and birds they’ve seen. Meanwhile, slightly older kids can take part in our Junior Rangers course and brush up on their tracking skills.
