South Africa’s Drakensberg Mountain Range is undeniably spectacular; a visual feast for those that have a penchant for the outdoors and the South African countryside. In its rolling foothills, another kind of treasure can be found – one that is neither fauna nor flora, but boasts all things delicious – known as St. Bernard’s Peak Mountain Lodge Restaurant.
This restaurant bathes in the dappled shade of the oak and gum trees, showcasing the loveliness of its surrounds. The spacious dining area is thatched, exuding a real South African-cum-colonial look and feel. During the busy tourist season, the hotel guests and visitors enjoy buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner. The meals are hearty, made from fresh ingredients and all smack of true South African flavours. Out of season, an a-la-carte menu applies, according to what the chef has put together for his valued patrons.
The dining hall can accommodate up to 120 seated guests, making it ideal for those wanting a venue for their conference, wedding, year-end function or celebration. St. Bernard’s is committed to making your function special, no matter how big or small, opulent or low-key it may be.
The surrounds are alive with plant and animal species. Local activities (in and around the town of Swartberg) include horse riding, swimming in the waterfalls and rivers, walking or cycling along one of the many surrounding trails, or looking out for some of the beautiful bird species that can be found around here.
