About Rooikat Trail
Are you feeling Active? Do you love the great outdoors? Then get on your walking shoes and join the Rooikat Trail in Tzaneen.
This 11 kilometer circular walk will take you through a pretty forest of Pine, Matumi, Natal Mahogany and Forest Cabbage. The Trail is named after the Rooikat, also known as the Caracal in English, which inhabits this area. You are unlikely to spot one though, as they are nocturnal creatures and don’t often venture out in the daylight.
Along your 5 hour walk you are bound to spot a number of other animals including the Duiker, Baboons and Bushbuck as well as Samango and Vervet Monkeys. Bring a picnic with you and stop along the Bobs River for a delightful lunch and refreshing swim.
You will start the trail at the Agatha State Forest Station where you can get a may and pay your entrance fee. This is a great walk for the whole family to enjoy, so what are you waiting for?
