About Queen's Beach

In addition to loads of holiday apartments and hotels in Sea Point, this area is also home to some lovely beaches. Queen’s Beach is certainly one of its most popular and is frequented by locals and tourists who want to work on their tan and catch up on a good book while lying on its soft sands.

Thanks to its unique position, it is relatively secluded from the Sea Point promenade, where people like to walk, jog, rollerblade, and wheel their baby prams. This locale also means that it is relatively sheltered from the wind so, even when other beaches are unpleasant on a blustery day, Queen’s Beach can be a lovely retreat.

The cool waters of the Western Cape are a tonic on a hot summer’s day, and there is a shallow gully at Queen’s Beach that is safe for swimming. Surfers who like bigger, messier waves also head to Queen’s for some good rides. There are beautiful shells for little ones to find and collect, while the rocks and rock pools are always a hit for inquisitive explorers too. Queen’s Beach’s facilities include free parking and ablutions. No lifeguards are on duty here, but there are also few rips and currents.

It is just a few minutes’ walk from many of the accommodation spots, boutiques, stores, and restaurants in Sea Point. Queen’s Beach is a short drive from the V & A Waterfront, Table Mountain, the City Bowl, Bo-Kaap, and the CTICC. Cape Town International Airport is about half an hour away, and Stellenbosch in the Cape Winelands is roughly an hour’s drive from here.
