The popular tourist town of Port Shepstone is one of the largest in KwaZulu-Natal, and boasts stunning beaches and plenty of marine life. What’s more, the water here is warm, thanks to its being the Indian Ocean. So, it is an excellent spot for summer vacations on the beach.

Anerley Beach is one of the scenic beaches along this stretch of the South African coastline. For most of the year, it is quiet; a welcomed escape from the bustle of the surrounding towns. However, in peak season (between December and February), even this retreat bursts into life as visitors from all over South African and the world descend on Anerley Beach to take advantage of the beautiful sandy stretches and blue waters. KwaZulu-Natal boasts almost year-round sunshine, though; so, a beach holiday doesn’t have to be confined to the summer months.

Anerley Beach is popular for swimming, SCUBA diving, and fishing. Kob, shad and garrick are all at the top of the local anglers’ lists, and make for delicious dinners.

The coastal forest that runs along the beach is always a hit; not only for its prettiness, but also for the adventure that lies in exploring it. The picnic spots are perfect for families and friends that want to make a day of Anerley Beach and enjoy the tranquillity and sea spray while savouring some delicious South African food.

Anerley is a resort town between Sunwich Port and Southport. It is only eight kilometres from Port Shepstone and about an hour and a quarter from Durban and the King Shaka International Airport.
