A man named Cecil Traut was a rather peculiar character who spent his last 60 years behind a bar, pulling pints for the locals and passers through. During his time he collected over 2400 ties, each one given to him, not one of them was bought.

A few of the ties are rather old and date back to the 1800ís, many are South African and a good chunk of them are from different parts of the world. The ties are hanging on the bar walls of the Namaqualand County Lodge in Vanrhynsdorp. Before Cecil died he asked the owner of the lodge to keep the ties there as a growing collection rather than being sent to a museum where the collection will come to an end.

Every tie collected was a friendship bond with someone and each tie comes with a different story. It was Cecils wish that this collection continuously grow.
