About Cape Hutton Wines

A wine representing the perfect synergy between man and the environment can be found in Cape Hutton Wines. You’ll locate it with the scenic Blaauwklippen Valley of Stellenbosch. Once the owners, Gerrit and Lesley Wyma, purchased their farm and named it Cape Hutton after the type of soil, their passion for wine could fully be realised. Their desire was to produce a fine wine which provided a special tasting experience for those drinking it but also brought a personal element of their boutique wine estate.

Soon after they discovered winemaker, Piet Smal and together this partnership has yielded magic in a bottle. Their philosophy is to inspire, imagine and indulge when winemaking. The vineyard within the valley provides the inspiration and showcases the beautiful relationship between the wine and the people crafting it. The soil found on the farm was first discovered in Natal and later linking to an area along the Blaauwklippen road.

This Hutton soil comes from granite and has great properties of water holding and good drainage. It is usually found at altitudes of 150-400m and is ideal for creating fine wines. The cellar was purposefully built at the foot of the vineyards and close to the farmhouse.
