About Audacia Wines

The 32 hectare from of Audacia can be found within the thriving wine region of Stellenbosch. You know that when a wine estate is located within the ‘golden triangle’ the wine is bound to be great especially the Shiraz. The view from the Helderberg Mountain slopes at the Bonte River valley base is spectacular. This estate has capitalized on the soils which are well-suited to red grape varieties and have therefore made this their sole focus and call themselves “The Red Wine Boutique Winery’.

The heir of Neethlingshof, Kosie Louw, surprised everyone by forgetting his inheritance and leaving the family farm behind. He chose to buy a part of Annandale and began a life there with his new wife. This audacious move earner the farm its current name. Nearly 30 years later, their son known as ‘Klein Kosie the Second’ began running the farm with his father until it was sold in 1996. The Strydom and Harris families now run it and continue to be mindful of the farm’s great heritage.

The name resonates with adventure, boldness, courage, fearlessness and unrestrained. All these characteristics aim to be mimicked in the winemaking and viticulture of the farm. When Kosie first began making wine, he had to borrow his father’s grapes press and to this day we are reminded of it through the wooden basket press depicted on the wine’s label.
