About Learn To Surf with JBay Adventures

Learn to surf in one of the world’s top surfing destinations; where sporting champs from all over the world come to test their skills on the epic waves of Jeffrey’s Bay. This little seaside town is situated in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, and promises stunning beach days and close proximity to the Garden Route and Nelson Mandela Bay (including Port Elizabeth).

The JBay Adventures surf lessons last for two hours, are conducted by experienced surfers that are highly qualified, and include all of the equipment necessary (a suitable surfboard and wetsuit) to take on the waves. These instructors have worked at surf camps all over the world, and have taught many a visitor to feel the exhilaration of catching waves.

There is a short theory lesson on the beach, enabling the student to understand the position they need to assume on the board and what to do as they feel the surge of the water behind them. After that, they will take to the ocean to put this theory into action.

Of course, catching waves takes practice, and students will need to spend some good time in the water, getting the feel of the board and how it glides on the water.

The lessons are, generally, for first-time surfers. However, they can be tailored for intermediate and even advanced surfers that want to up their game to the next level, on request.

JBay Adventures offers bespoke packages; which comprise three-, five-, and seven-day surf packages, with meals and accommodation included. This means that your surfing adventure can be turned into a real holiday.

Those wanting to learn to surf with JBay Adventures need to bring along their own costume, towel and sunscreen, as well as a set of dry clothes to change into after the lesson. All valuables can be left for safe-keeping at the Salty Surf School Shack nearby.
