About The Hampton

The Hampton is a 1920s landmark, which was recently renovated into a luxury beachfront guest lodge. Panoramic views of the Indian Ocean make this a popular destination to both corporate and leisure guests. Dolphins are often sighted from our balcony by guests as they enjoy an early morning cup of freshly brewed coffee or a well deserved beverage after work in the afternoon.

The Hampton is centrally located and thus making it easy access for visitors travelling by air, car or bus. We are approximately 12km from the airport, 300m from the bus terminal in Moore Street and just off the R72 which passes through East London. We are 3km from the CBD.


Bed and Breakfast:
The Hampton has ten elegantly decorated suites. Nine of the ten suites are double rooms, each with their own en-suite bathrooms. All offer showers, and some have baths and showers. Five suites are sea-facing, of which two have their own private balcony.

The remaining four are standard rooms, of which two have a private patio off their room. The tenth suite is our Family Suite, which has a queen bed in the main bedroom and then two single beds in the TV lounge area. The suite also has an en-suite bathroom with shower and bath.

All Suites have a TV with selected DSTV channels, tea & coffee facilities and ceiling fans. All rooms are non smoking. Secure off-street parking is also included in the rate.

Self Catering:
In April 2012 The Hampton opened a new luxury two bedroomed, self-catering flat. It is situated on the ground floor of this 1930s old East London building. Sleeps four.

The main bedroom has a wonderful comfortable queen bed, the second bedroom offers two single beds which can be joined to make one large king size bed. The lounge and dining room area are combined with the front door opening onto its own patio which is sea-facing. There is a TV with selected DStv viewing. Modern bathroom with shower and bath. The kitchen is separate and has a stove / oven, fridge, microwave, kettle and the kitchen utensils. Laundry can be arranged with our outside service at an additional cost. The flat is serviced daily. Secure off-street parking in front of your flat with secure premises.


Full English & Continental breakfast is included in our rates and is enjoyed in our dining area which has a balcony offering an amazing ocean view.


Airport transfers, car hire, as well as visits to game parks and the Lion Park can be arranged. Wireless Internet access is available at the Lodge and private laundry can be arranged at an additional cost.


The Hampton is within walking distance to all the beachfront restaurants, pubs and a SPAR supermarket. Visit the East London Aquarium or simply enjoy a walk along the Esplanade, as you take in the beauty of our wonderful coastline.

Buffalo Park Cricket Grounds, the East London Golf Course and the Border Rugby Stadium are within 5km of the Lodge. For the energetic - Virgin Active Gym is directly in front of us.
