At the foot of the Klein Drakensberg Mountain, in the heart of the beautiful South African province of Limpopo is Hoedspruit. Thanks to its proximity to a number of parks and reserves (not least of all, the Kruger National Park), this area is acclaimed for its biodiversity and its commitment to eco-tourism. As a result, it is a popular spot for travellers with a love for the outdoors and for the fauna and flora of this country.

Did you know? The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre is a non-profitable organisation working to conserve all endangered animal species and is one of the country’s leaders in the breeding and research of endangered species.

The Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate is a conserved area with a reserve that is home to a fabulous array of plants and animals. Impalas and kudus graze peacefully, while stocky warthogs keep their noses close to the ground in search of roots and tubers to eat.

More than 200 hectares of pristine Lowveld bush is dedicated to these animals, as well as to a host of bird and insect species. Visitors are encouraged to bring their binoculars, and to keep an eye out for the exciting avian species that call this home.

The town of Hoedspruit is small and charming; with incredible views of the Drakensberg Mountains as an idyllic backdrop. It is also home to a number of shops and restaurants, adding to its convenience for visitors from around the world.

This is a retreat from the big city and a place for friends and families to relax and enjoy the sights, sounds and serenity of the South African bushveld.
