About Shipwreck Trail

Cape Point was once a beacon of danger for sailors negotiating the African coastline. This is testified to by the shipwrecks that remain behind, ghostly and eerie in their deathly isolation. The Shipwreck Trail of Cape Point offers a direct route and a circular route from which to choose.

The direct route is an out-and-return trail along the seashore that measures about 1.5 kilometres but takes approximately four hours to accomplish. The circular route is 2.5 kilometres and requires around six hours to master.

Both are fairly easy, although time-consuming due to the nature of the trails. The views are spectacular and the shipwrecks fascinating. If younger ones are able to manage the duration of the hike, they will no doubt love exploring the shipwrecks.
