For the adventurous hiker and trail walker visiting the Umtamvuna Nature Reserve which is 8km from Port Edward on the South Coast of KwaZulu Natal offers a number of trails with varying difficulty and distances to explore.
The three magnificent trails include the Kingfisher Trail - 30 minutes, the Loerie Trail - 2 hours and the Fish Eagle Trail a 4 hour circular route which provide hikers the opportunity to discover the amazing array of birdlife including some rare bird species and the breathtaking views of this diverse reserve.
Other wild life in the reserve includes several species of buck and monkeys which inhabit the lush surroundings. If you visit the reserve in the spring you will be fortunate to experience various areas covered in beautiful wild flowers.
