About Amanda's Coffee Shop

The coastal town of Amanzimtoti (near Durban) is known for its beautiful beaches and balmy weather, and is particularly popular amongst surfers and visitors that love sand, sea and sun. The local outdoor hangout is called Café Amanda, where families can meet and friends can catch up in laid-back surrounds.

The gorgeous gardens are inviting, and patrons can enjoy a cold drink and a tasty snack under the shade of the trees or on the veranda. There is a grassed area as well as a jungle gym on which little ones can while away the hours with a liberal dose of fun. This play area is conveniently visible from the garden and the veranda.

The menu is full of delicious treats and interesting twists. There are gluten-free, wheat-free and Banting options available for those with dietary restrictions. The bar opens at 10h15, from which time an ice-cold beer or a delicious South African wine can be paired with the meals. The menu includes traditional breakfasts (served all day), burgers, savoury pancakes, home-made vetkoek, and oxtail. Of course, fresh cakes, scones and muffins are the perfect indulgence after a day spent on the beach, and are best enjoyed in this enticing setting. Sunday lunches at Café Amanda are moreish. Expect roast meat, roast potatoes, three vegetables, rice, gravy and a decadent dessert.

Café Amanda can be booked for children’s parties, baby showers, high teas, year-end functions, product launches, business meetings, and other special occasions. For these, special platters or buffets can be arranged in advance.

Although this restaurant and tea garden opens at 08h30, earlier breakfasts from 07h00 for six or more folk can be organised.

Patrons are welcome to bring their well-behaved dogs, as long as they are kept on a leash. Café Amanda offers a reduced menu during load shedding. Enjoy KwaZulu-Natal’s hospitality and natural beauty while sampling delicious fare at this outdoor café.
