Steelpoort Valley, Highlands Meander

The Steelpoort Valley is situated just south of Sekhukhuneland in the magnificent South African province of Mpumalanga on the border of Limpopo. This entire area was once part of the old Transvaal Province, and remains a quiet, relatively remote, part of the country. It enjoys a subtropical climate, with some very hot summer days.

The Steelpoort River (Tubatse) is a tributary of the Olifants River, and is a natural feature of the valley. Most of the countryside is characterised by extensive plains of grasslands, which rise up to meet the clear African skies.

The associated town, also known as Steelpoort, is a little mining town with a fascinating history that extends back to the late 1800's.

The untouched nature of the landscapes of Steelpoort Valley is this region's appeal. It is quiet and serene; a veritable escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life and the metropolitan pace.
