If you enjoy being close to nature, in the bush and are a golfing enthusiast, there is hardly a more perfectly suited golf course for you than Skukuza. Originally built for the private use of The Kruger’s staff, Skukuza is now open to visitors who fancy a game during their time on safari in the famous Kruger National Park.
Built in 1972, Skukuza is wonderfully kept nine-hole (eighteen-tee) course that is completely unfenced to its natural surroundings. In fact, hippos, impala, warthog, baboons, giraffe as well as several of the Big Five often make up your audience.
The course itself, when played to the full eighteen, offers two tees with the men’s measuring 5950m and 5059m for the ladies. The only “bunkers” to be found the challenging course are the ones above you, the trees and the signature hole is played across Lake Panic.
Overall the course is well suited to all levels of golfer and a day here, under the African sun, will most certainly leave you with fond memories unlike any golfing experience you’ve ever had.
It goes without saying that the Kruger National Park is one the world’s greatest conservation areas and the opportunity to play within its confines, among the scores of animals and wildlife that call it home it an unsurpassable opportunity.
