At Lion Sands River Lodge you can expect a sophisticated interpretation of the traditional safari lodge, with light and bright contemporary decor. Wooden walkways lead off to a spa, gym and pool, and back to the main lodge, where the decks connected water features give the impression of floating on the river. Whether you enjoy your time together socially or quietly, the running theme here is simple and natural, luxury Sabie accommodation.

The International Award Winning Lion Sands is situated in one of the finest wilderness areas in the Southern Sabi Sand Game Reserve, the only private reserve to have access to the perennial Sabie River, which it shares with the Kruger National Park.

Accommodation

Lion Sands River Lodge is nestled under a canopy of trees dating back almost 800 years, catching the sun as it rises over the Kruger National Park. The Lodge is about spirit, warmth, nature and relaxation.

This luxurious lodge comprises of the following: a private lounge and bar, two swimming pools, wooden viewing decks, a secluded bird hide, private hammocks, health spa, curio shop and both an indoor and open-air dining area. All the air-conditioned bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, with an indoor shower, outdoor shower and separate bath, mini bar and private wooden viewing deck overlooking the Sabie River.

The lodge's eight Luxury Rooms, six Superior Luxury Rooms and four River Suites are spaced along a path to reveal splendid river views, and make for a very personal safari stay. This is where couples, families and friends come together to reconnect with one another and Mother Nature.

The River Suites, each fronted by a plunge pool and set further away from the main lodge, are the most spacious and private – and also include a Family Suite. It's for you to choose which accommodation best suits you – but the extraordinary view comes standard.

Experience

Our Treehouses offer sprawling views of remote Africa, globed by even bigger star-lit skies. Below, the stillness is punctuated by animals’ whistles, huffs, and growls.

The Treehouse Experience is booked in conjunction with accommodation at the lodge of your choice, at an additional rate, per person per night. Your room remains ready for your return at any point. You’ll pack a stay-over bag with the essentials, leaving the rest of your belongings back at the lodge.

Dining

Guests can dine on our outdoor deck overlooking the river, in our indoor dining area, or in our boma. Intimate dinner settings may also be arranged in imaginative locations. Kosher dining is available.

ACTIVITIES

The activities programme has been developed to enhance the guest's safari experience by enabling the guest to tailor-make their stay with us. The activities are all offered in a flexible and convenient environment. The activities programme is uniquely exclusive to Lion Sands guests only. Activities included in the daily tariff are: Open Land Rover game drives; Bush Breakfasts; Bush Walks; Fishing; Wildlife Lectures; Picnic lunches; Hippopotamus Tour; Bush Dinners; Astronomy and Full-Moon Walks.

Additional Activities which are available but not included in the daily tariff are: Private Land Rover hire (Exclusivity, Specialist Photography, Bird watching); Health Spa; Clay pigeon Shooting; Sleep-out Hide. By Arrangement visits to: Kruger National Park (KNP) Golf Course; Helicopter flights to the Blyde River Canyon, Ballooning Safari, Hazyview and a visit to a Cultural Village.
