Right on the doorstep of many of the apartments and hotels that make up the Waterfront accommodation offering is the relatively new Silo District. This area is a vibrant epicentre of all things beautiful and cultural; and is the home of the incredible Zeitz MOCAA – Museum of Contemporary African Art. More recently, it has also become the esteemed address of the Silo Market, which is held from 10h00 to 15h00 on the last Saturday of every month.

This market, in keeping with the local tendency toward celebrating unique creativity, showcases some fantastic arts and crafts. In fact, it has partnered with the Cape Craft and Design Institute to ensure that young talent, start-up companies, and innovative new products have a platform on which to be seen and experienced by locals and international visitors alike. The aim of the market is to make beautiful things available that are not easily found anywhere else. This is a major draw card to the area, particularly for art-lovers and those with a particular passion for all things unique.

To add to the non-stop vibe, there will also be performers at the Silo Market; singing, dancing and doing their entertainment thing to keep visitors enthralled with the up-and-coming talent that can be found in the heart of Cape Town.

The entry to the market is free. Thanks to its prime position, it is close to the shops and restaurants of the Silo District in the V & A Waterfront. The City Bowl can be reached on foot, and Table Mountain is only a few minutes away by car. Alternatively, board one of the ferries at the Waterfront and head out to Robben Island.
