Belfast, Highlands Meander
Near the Drakensberg escarpment and 210km east of Pretoria, you’ll find the town of Belfast. Belfast is one of the coldest places in South Africa, but it’s wonderful and homely atmosphere will make up for that.
Belfast is also well known for its cattle, dairy and sheep farming and the fact that it has the oldest bluegum plantation in South Africa. Avid fishermen are very familiar with Belfast thanks to its excellent fishing opportunities. The cold rivers, streams and its six well stocked dams promoting good trout and bass growth, provide excellent fishing that attracts anglers from across the country - even the world. There are plenty of hiking trails, allowing you to view the beauty that this area has to offer, up close and personal. There are many beautiful gardens and the tulip nursery is well known and a definite must see.

Still a lovely peaceful part of the World, it has changed little since 1960, (my school days at the 'old' primary school, next to the post office, the old hostel boys and girls still stands the old Town Hall (Civic center) the Transvaal hotel, love the old cinema (still there) near the lake, no trout fishing in my day!!! the power station. I recommend a day to look around this lovely old town. I stayed in Dullstroom, a modern town with lovely restaurants (World standard) lovely shops for the lady's to "spend" (invest) ur hard earned dollars.
