The Prieska Museum stands on the main street protecting the history of the town and skilfully displaying the wonders of it's memory lane. Situated on the South banks of the Orange River, the town of Prieska is placed where the water is shallow enough to wade across. Prieska served as a ford many moons before the white settlers formed the municipality; officially instating Prieska as a town in 1818.
Originally a farming district with only a church and a small collection of town houses the museum displays authentic farm tools and agricultural utensils that farmed Prieska earth centuries ago. The museum tells the story of Prieska and it's people using antique household belongings instead of an old family album, generating a feeling of warmth and wonder. An interesting collection of artefacts reveals the development of this small town that was once even smaller.
