Cedar Cottage offers accommodation in Sutherland in the Rogge Cloof Private Nature Reserve. This registered Biosphere Reserve has free-roaming game and cheetahs. Located at an altitude of between 1400 to 1700 metres, with magnificent clear skies and expansive plains, Rogge Cloof Guest Farm is home to the greatest heavens on earth.
Accommodation
The Cedar Cottage holiday home in Sutherland is a spacious unit, ideal for couples and friends (sleeps four guests). The bedroom is furnished with a King-size bed and there are two day beds in the living area to allow for an additional two guests. The bathroom is fitted with a shower, basin, toilet and toiletries.
The unit has a kitchenette, with table, fridge and gas stove. A coffee, tea and rusk tray is provided. There is a closed circuit fireplace in the unit and free Wi-Fi.
Rogge Cloof operates on solar power and the solar electricity supply system does not accommodate appliances such as hair dryers, coffee makers, fans, microwave ovens, or electric kettles. Power sockets for recharging phones and laptops are available.
Outside there is a braai area and ample safe parking next to the cottage.
Breakfast & Dining
Breakfast and dinner are available daily in the Rittersaal Dining Hall at Rogge Cloof Guest Farm. The Rittersaal is not a Restaurant; it is a guest Dining Hall. Breakfast and a 3-course dinner are served daily at specified times. Please enquire on check-in, if required.

The Reserve has gravel roads, which are accessible to ordinary sedan vehicles at most times. During rainy or snow weather, SUV or 4x4 vehicles are recommended.
The Area

Almost 120 kilometres due north of Matjiesfontein in the Roggeveld of the Karoo, Sutherland is a space of clear, dark night skies. It's where one can marvel at the star-scapes that sweep the outer limits, and where astronomers come to use the telescopes of the South African Astronomical Observatory.
