Situated south of South Africa’s capital, Pretoria, the Zwartkop Country Club enjoys prime estate and is built around a particularly stunning stretch of the Hennops River. So closely integrated into the design of this course is the Hennops that players end up crossing the river 12 times during a round here.
Zwartkop is one the great clubs in South Africa and having recently celebrated their 80th anniversary, they are extremely well established too. National and provincial tournaments are regularly held here at Zwartkop and the course is a permanent fixture on the FNB Tour. Some of the greatest golfers in history have played at Zwartkop and the course has time and again provided a wonderful test.
Originally designed by Bob Grimsdell the course has now been refreshed by Peter Matkovich and CEO Dale Hayes with the Matkovich trademark features all very evident. The course itself is a modest 6442m in length is a classic parkland layout. Visitors are very welcome but are please asked to book beforehand.
Zwartkop has an excellent selection of holes and though you will find this course a true test of your capabilities, you also won’t find a better course to improve upon. Zwartkop have a motto that I feel sums up the club’s attitude and it goes “If you love golf, we love you.”
Facilities come out of the top draw and include a clubhouse; golf academy; driving range; practise green; pro shop; caddies and more.
