About Kwalata Game Lodge

Kwalata Game Lodge is located at the Dinokeng Game Reserve in the northern corner of Gauteng, next to the N1 Highway. The Game Reserve accommodates all of the big five free roaming, and offers great plains game viewing. It is the perfect malaria-free stop-over, only 1/2 hour drive from Pretoria and 1 hour drive north of OR Tambo International Airport.

Accommodation

Kwalata Game Lodge offers self catering and room only accommodation. Some of the chalets have private bomas and others share bomas. The self catering chalets have a kitchenette with a two plate gas stove, sink, kettle, toaster and each of these chalets have braai facilities.

The A La Carte restaurant onsite provides superb meals and the bar is fully licenced. The restaurant is wheelchair friendly.

Experiences

We offer Evening Game Drives, with stop-over at our bush lapa to enjoy some coffee and rusks around the fire where you can enjoy the night sounds under the stars. Drinks and cooler boxes can be acquired at the bar before departure. Picnic snacks can pre-ordered on any game drives booked. Breakfast & Lunch Stops along the route can be requested, in advance at the office.

Experience nature using all of your senses and being out on foot, you cover an area more intensely, and are focused on the things that you usually not able to see from a vehicle. Comfortable shoes must be worn, and clothing should be natural colours and applicable to the prevailing weather conditions. Cameras and binoculars can be taken along, as very interesting sights will be discovered and guests can revel in the spotting of fascinating creatures and plant life. No children under 15 are allowed.

Our resident Big 5 animals (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard) are free roaming, with other species like Hippo, Cheetah, Giraffe, Eland, Kudu, Impala, Zebra, Blue Wildebeest, Waterbuck, Red Hartebeest, Tsessebe, Warthog, Jackal, Crocodile, Ostrich, Aardwolf, Aardvark, Brown Hyena, Caracal, Serval, Porcupine and a variety of bird species.

The location is quite beautiful and boasts a nice green scenery. The staff is really friendly and always happy to assist in making one's stay as comfortable as can be. The game reserves is home to the big 5, we got to see the giraffe, rhino, zebra, Springbok amongst other beautiful animals I do think that they need to add bar fridges and microwave in all the chalets, especially because the place is self catering although they do have a restaurant and bar. If not at least specify on the website which chalets don't have a fridge and microwave so that guests know when they're booking. Otherwise we really enjoyed ourselves
