Having once been rated the top 100 golf course in the country, Simbithi Country Club is one that is a little more challenging than its par 60 would imply. It is located in the near-perfect surrounds of the Simbithi Eco-Estate, which is nestled on the Dolphin Coast of South Africa. Specifically, it is between the little holiday towns of Ballito and Salt Rock.
The unique layout of this course enables golfers to test their skills with 13 short holes (all par threes) and five long holes (four par fours and one par five). The rolling hills of KwaZulu-Natal lend the course a beautiful terrain, as do the dams that are scattered about it. These attract many bird species that delight players with their wonderful antics and playful natures. The greens are flanked by trees, and open spaces have been utilised to create a real sense of the African outdoors.
Visitors are welcome at Simbithi, where the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. There are facilities at which children can play while their folks enjoy a game on the greens. There is also a pro shop that stocks great gear and accessories. The driving range makes for a lovely practice spot; while golf carts and clubs are available to rent.
Simbithi Country Club is only 45 kilometres north of Durban, which is proud home to the King Shaka International Airport, as well as plenty of other fun things to do and see.
