About St Peters Church
The quaint St Peter’s Anglican church is well worth a visit if you are in the Sabie area. Across the road from the Standard Bank which is on the corner of Main Street and 8th Avenue, the church was designed by Sir Herbert Baker and was constructed and completed, in 1913 by a team of Italian stonemasons and has been used for Sunday worship every Sunday since then.
The stone was quarried from local mountains and the original roof was made from Swedish wood shingles. The pretty church is often used for weddings. The gardens are particularly attractive and planted in such a way that they look beautiful whatever the season.
