Tshwane is made up of Pretoria, Centurion, Winterveld and Temba, and is home to plenty of cultural, natural and historical tourist attractions. The Cullinan Golf Club is one feature of this pretty part of Gauteng, and is situated only some 30 kilometres outside Pretoria.
Having originally been established in 1905, this golf course has a long and fascinating history. In 1954, it was rated the best 9-hole course in South Africa. However, a redesign was sorely needed to keep up with the growing demand for a top-notch course in this region. This is when Grimsdell and Wilkes designed the course that still exists today, for the most part (with the exception of only one tee).
Cullinan Golf Course is open all year round, from Monday to Sunday. Visitors are welcome on any day, but bookings for a game on Saturday must be made on the Thursday before. There is an in-house pro shop that has a range of great golfing equipment, gear and gimmicks. The driving range at Cullinan offers golfers the opportunity to practice before heading out onto the greens, and clubs and carts are available for hire.
