About Horseback Africa Hiking Trails
Horseback Africa offers free hiking to all overnight visitors. The accommodation at Colin's Horseback Africa has both cheaper options and more exclusive options depending on your pocket.
The trails are geared towards hikers (including children), who want to enjoy nature without rushing from one point to another. It is in a game reserve so there is always the chance that one meets up with a giraffe or a kudu on the trail somewhere.
The Forest Trail is the shortest walk. This trail would take a hiker about 20 minutes to complete. The emphasis is on bird-watching in the poplar forest near the river. There is also a swing bench at the dam for people to sit and enjoy the beauty of the environment.
The Blue Trail goes over the mountains behind the stables. This trail takes one to a look-out point with lovely views over the river and dams. There is some bolder-hopping but it is still a very easy trail lasting about one hour.
The Waterfall Trail will take around 5 hours to complete. This trail is more strenuous, and one does need more energy to enjoy this route. There is a lot of topography and stunning views from the top of the cliffs. There is a beautiful waterfall where one can swim (at your own risk) and enjoy a picnic.
