About Waterberg Kruin Hiking Trail

Our tip: one can do the hike as two day trails, or an overnight hike
Day one is the Perdekop Route, an 18 km circular trail that takes about 9 hours to complete. It leads high into the Waterberg from a relatively easy start along a kloof (disceptively easy, so you do not notice the distance) and then up the slopes of Perdekop, the second highest peak in the area, 1800 metres above sea level. It is the final leg to the summit that is taxing, but worth it for the views out over Alma Valley.
Day two is aptly named the Skilpad (tortoise) Summit for it is a far easier route of only 7 km, across fairly flat terrain that follows a dirt road and allows one to enjoy the views of the Waterberg. The halfway mark is a dam at which there are a series of shady trees.
The dam also provides space for fishing and canoeing.
The farm's base camp is a series of A-frame, thatched huts overlooking a lake – a beautiful and unusual setting. They come with beds, mattresses and a thatched lapa kitchen that has all you need to produce a meal, provided it is not anything fancy. Hot showers and toilets are a bonus. Each hut sleeps four.
