Location & Attractions

Thabazimbi, meaning "Mountain of Iron", lies within the Waterberg region of Limpopo Province in South Africa. Positioned at the base of the Ysterberg and encircled by the Witfonteinrand and Boshofberg, with the prominent Kransberg rising in the distance, the town is steeped in both natural beauty and history. Its name originates from the discovery of a rich iron ore reef in 1919, with the town officially proclaimed in 1953 following the expansion of iron and steel production during the 1930s. In addition to mining, cattle farming remains a significant contributor to the local economy.
