20 minutes from Grahamstown and a pleasant day-trip from Port Elizabeth. Welcome to this very special experience of Africa and join a 4-hour journey that spans thousands of years in The Valley of the Ancient Voices. Rock art, relics and artifacts give clues to the myriad of animals and people that have crossed through this place – using it as a place of refuge, or a home, or of spiritual significance. Follow the same paths that they did, paths as ancient as the rocky outcrops into which they have been worn.

A knowledgeable guide will lead you through The Valley of the Ancient Voices. The walk winds through the valley for 2 kilometers from beginning to end at a moderate pace.

There are numerous stops to appreciate the rock-art and wildlife. The towering cliffs are home to innumerable types of birds, reptiles and mammals - a nature-lovers paradise. Picnic packs and refreshments are provided to visitors in backpacks and are enjoyed at the rock pool, which is a deep rip in the earth exposing the underground water table. The bottom of this pool has never been fathomed and its permanence has always been an attraction to humans and animals. The water makes for a refreshing swim during the tour.

What to Bring:
Comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunblock, sunglasses, swimwear and towel, camera and binoculars.

Booking is essential; No tour permitted without a guide; Maximum of 10, minimum of 2 per tour; Children under 12 by special arrangement only.

Directions:
From Port Elizabeth, take the N2 to Grahamstown. From Grahamstown follow directional signs to Bedford (R350); 18km from Grahamstown turn left onto the R400 signposted Riebeek East; Follow the gravel road for 9km. Signage on your Left.
