Franki's Vineyards were first established in 2004 and their wines bottled in 2007. Nestled between Malmesbury and Darling, the views from the farm pan over miles of vineyards, Riebeeck Kasteel and the Ceres Mountains.
The Rhone style cultivars of Mourvèdre, Grenache Noir and Viognier are planted on this 22 hectare farm and The boutique only uses small amounts of the harvest each year. 2010 saw a single cultivar Voignier bottled. When visiting the vineyards, you’ll get way more than a glass of Great wine. You can visit their rooibos tea estate and catch an eyeful of one of the country’s greatest classic and competition cars.
Franki’s is somewhat unconventional in their chosen cultivars and use a unique ‘goblet’ vine training system. There is a great synergy between the old world methods standards used and New world technologies. Visit the wine farm for a cellar tour, tasting, a swim in their pool, a farm drive through the Rooibos tea plantations and a tour of the classic car museum with models ranging from the 1900’s to the 1970’s. In the area close by, you’ll find one of the Western Cape’s largest dairy farms Vyevlei and Goedehoop, Evita se Peron in Darling and fine dining in Riebeeck Kasteel.
