About Muizenberg Catwalk
Walking along the Muizenberg catwalk is just about the best thing you could begin or end your day with. The catwalk hugs the coastline for 3km; starting from Muizenberg and winding all the way up to St James.
Take an easy stroll, walk with the whole family, speed walk on your own to get your blood pumping, or take a jog for a great work-out while the waves roll up to greet you. Watch the fishermen cast out their lines and listen to the cry of gulls as they hover over the water in anticipation. Watch sun-lovers soaking up the rays on the white sandy beaches, and join swimmers for a little refreshing dip as you pass man-made tidal pools on the beach.
It is advisable to check the tide table before planning a walk, as the catwalk is best enjoyed at low tide. Make an occasion of it, and meet friends along the way, stop in for a bite at one of the many local restaurants, and walk back afterwards. Sunsets are something magical to witness as you're strolling on the catwalk. Whatever time of day, no visit to the area is complete without experiencing this wonderful addition to the Kalk Bay to Muizenberg route.
