Galleon Nook is a superbly situated one-bedroom homely, cosy, self-catering, full equipped Holiday Cottage (sleeps two), popular with travellers from the UK plus the locals who enjoy the weekend getaway, due to the peaceful surroundings and site seeing in the area, not to mention the stunning selection of Restaurants.

Situated in a residential suburb of Fish Hoek called Sun Valley, which is at the bottom of “Ou Kaapse Weg” (a mountain pass in Silvermine Nature Reserve), and in the middle of the Cape Peninsula leading towards Cape Point with access to the sea / beaches (five minutes), in either direction.

From this base, many tourist attractions are on the doorstep to the Cottage within the Western Cape Southern Peninsula; Kalk Bay being around the corner, voted the most Quant Tourist Village in the World. Further, the road leads to all of the many Cape Town attractions, using a well sign posted highway system.

Cape Town Self Catering

Galleon Nook is a comfortable, fully equipped self-catering, homely garden cottage, suitable for two guests. The bedroom has a Queen-size bed, two closets, with an en-suite bathroom (shower, toilet, basin). Blackout roller blinds are installed on top of the venetian blinds.

The cottage has of a fully equipped kitchen (stove, microwave, washing machine, fridge); with the open plan lounge and a rustic fireplace. There is a work desk situated in the bay window area (very fast 10 meg line, the cottage has its own router). A beautiful, sunlit area, to sit and work and own small lawn with deck chairs to catch the sun, own garden area and veranda.

The Cottage connects to a shared pool / braai area, which the Guests are encouraged to use in conjunction with the landlord. This also provides an outdoor area, with garden furniture, a bigger lawn area, to relax and enjoy the surrounding sounds and views of the Silvermine mountain pass at the back of the property. The majestic African Harrier Hawks frequent our skies, together with Owls at Noordhoek Common, as well as our local Guinea Fowl troops.

Full DSTV channels, with Netflix / Showmax (smart TV).
Private entrance and parking for a single motor car in the driveway (oil leaks, not permitted to park inside the premises, but rather in the road on the street).
Galleon Nook Cottage is built behind the owner's home, and is lock up and go.

• Shared patio area surrounding the swimming pool, with garden furniture, to relax after your swim, or sit on the lawn and read a book in a lounging wooden chair

Please bring along your own toiletries, food, refreshments, swimming towels for the beach, wood for fireplace (this is a self-catering unit).

Location & Attractions

The star views are dazzling as there is little commercial lighting in Sun Valley. The region is full of Cape Town fauna and flora, especially indigenous Protea species and other plants growing on the mountain pass (Ou Kaapse Weg) viewed from the back of the cottage. Sunsets on Noordhoek beach, Kommetjie Beach, Chapman's Peak are spectacular as are the sunrises viewed at Fish Hoek Beach, and driving further down the coast, en-route to Cape Point.

We are situated in the middle of the land (Southern Peninsula), which means you only travel 5km either way to get to the closest beaches (Fish Hoek Beach, Noordhoek Long Beach, Kommetjie Beach) Other nearby beaches include: Windmill Beach, Simons Town Beach, Clovelly Beach, Froggy Pond Beach, Millers Point Tidal Pool and Picnic Area, Kalk Bay Beach, Danger Beach, Kalk Bay Tidal Pool, St James Beach and Tidal Pool) (all within 5-20min drive. Not to mention the beaches inside the nature reserve at Cape Point. in the South of Cape Town, and only 20 min drive into Cape Town with no traffic.
