About Sid Fourie House
The Sid Fourie House, also known as Jansenville’s Museum and houses a number of collections that offer a peak into the lifestyles of the past as well as the area itself. The home once belonged to Sid Fourie who was born in 1896.
Like many young people he changed his career a number of times and had a varied number of jobs from digging wells clerking for a local firm of attorneys. After a short stint in the local military he bought the Jansenville Chronicle and was the editor for this paper for 45 years.
Other achievements included a position on the town council for 25 years, 15 of which he was major of Jansenville with a number of notable achievements.
The house has a number of unique design features which you’ll discover on visiting. Browse through the various rooms including a library, a dining room with a selection of war memorabilia and many other interesting artefacts.
