About Ndumo Game Reserve
Ndumo Game Reserve (adjacent to the Tembe Elephant Park) is a small but impressive game reserve. Proclaimed in 1924 Ndumo Game Reserve is one of South Africa's oldest reserves and considered to be one of the finest in KwaZulu Natal.
Did you know? Ndumo Game Reserve is in a high risk malaria area and it is advisable to take malaria phrophylaxis.
Part of the allure of Ndumo is its remoteness, being located over 400 kilomtres from the city of Durban and just over 100 kilometres from Mkuze.
Ndumo Game Reserve is situated in the Maputaland region of northern KwaZulu Natal just south of the Mozambique border.
Ndumo is about 10 000 hectares in extent and boasts approximately 60% of all bird species found in South Africa including the Green Coucal, Gorgeous Bush Shrike, Pink Throated Twinspot and African Broadbill.
Wildlife you can exect to see at the Ndumo Game Reserve includes good numbers of Black Rhino, White Rhino, Buffalo, Hippopotamus and Crocodile.
Red Duiker, Giraffe, Nyala and Suni are all fairly common and Leopard and Hyaena are in the reserve.
