Experience the first Houseboat in South Africa - the only one of its kind. Onboard Shayamanzi Houseboats, soak up the stunning scenery of the Lebombo Mountains and superb wildlife of the Pongola Game Reserve on the shores of Lake Jozini (also known as Pongolapoort Dam).

Enjoy the calm serenity of the open Lake Jozini waters, the thrill of Tiger Fishing or the adventure of Mountain Biking in the heart of the Zululand bushveld! Shayamanzi is about taking time out to appreciate Africa's special wonders.

Accommodation

Shayamanzi Houseboats offers full board accommodation as well as tiger fishing (in season), a Jacuzzi, two activities per day (fishing, game viewing and bird watching) and transfers from Jozini Tiger Lodge. Shayamanzi can accommodate 20 guests in the cabins. All the cabins are en-suite with shower, basin and toilet. They have plug points, hairdryers and fans. The boat is fully serviced with a world-class crew who will ensure you delicious meals, a safe cruise, great fishing, game viewing and bird watching of more than 350 species.

As you lie in your oak paneled cabin, the stars reflecting on the water and the moonlight shining through the fluttering, drifting curtains, you wonder what could be more romantic. The hippos snorting in the nearby bay remind you that you are surrounded by nature at its best. The water system is top class resulting in a hot pressurized shower.

Facilities

Entertainment is provided in the form of a 47” LED screen with DSTV and a DVD Home Theatre System provides a wide variety of music to choose from. There is even karaoke for those keen! The wet bar has a separate surround sound music system for those relaxing in the Jacuzzi. If that is not enough, there is also a dart board and please do bring your own board games.

Experiences / Activities

Double pontoon tender boats accompany the houseboat on her cruise. These are used by the passengers to explore the Lake's secret coves for fishing or game viewing purposes and are skippered by the Shayamanzi crew.

Tiger Fishing: Lake Jozini is the only water in South Africa where you find the ferocious fighting Tiger Fish, an African game fish, which thrills you as it jumps out the water, throwing its head from side to side trying to get off your line.

Game Viewing: Lake Jozini is surrounded by the Pongola Game Reserve and Pongola Nature Reserve, which provide spectacular game viewing from the water's edge. The Game Reserves are teaming with a large variety of wildlife.
