If you’ve booked your Cape town accommodation in the City Bowl, you’ll want to indulge in all things good at the Good Company Market in the heart of the city. This lively market showcases excellent food, creative and quirky crafts, and the opportunity to meet with some friendly South Africans.
The market was established in 2015 and is hosted by the picturesque Company’s Garden; right in the hub of all the Mother City magic. It is right next to the acclaimed Iziko South African Museum and the art gallery. Being outdoors, this market enjoys the dappled shade of the oak trees and the sprawling green grass of the lawns. This sets an idyllic scene for a day spent perusing the stalls, sampling yummy eats and just relaxing with family and friends. Well-behaved pets are welcome too.
In addition to shopping with a difference, the Good Company Market also offers the younger members of their clientele plenty in the way of fun activities. There are games and pony rides, as well as other engaging activities that will keep children busy for hours.
The stalls sell a range of cool products and gifts. These include homemade soaps, colourful clothes and accessories, wire art, succulents, handmade baby shoes, ornaments, handmade leather bags, and more. Of course, the food is always a highlight, and visitors to the market will definitely be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing the indulgence of choice. Organic bites, homemade hot sauces and preserves, over-the-top ice-creams, and innovative snacks are all par for the course here.
Another favourite feature of the Good Company Market is the yoga that it offers. Visitors can enjoy a session of strengthening and stretching exercises that leave them feeling revitalised and energised; while they are part of the bustling ambience of the market.
The market is open every Sunday from 10h00 to 15h30, if the weather allows. The V & A Waterfront and Table Mountain are only a few minutes’ drive from here.
