About City Walk Saturdays

Every month, the city of Cape Town and the people that feel a passion and commitment to its development, are part of a City Walk that is all about having fun. Formally called City Walk Saturdays, this walk invites locals and visitors alike to get together with friends, family members, fellow students, and colleagues to enjoy so much more of what the Mother City and the Western Cape have to offer.

This is a walk with a difference. It begins at the Company’s Gardens in the City Bowl. These are absolutely stunning surrounds in which to begin, and make for gorgeous photographs and even better memories. Then, walkers will be taken through to Waterkant Street and then St Andrew’s Square, showcasing a fair portion of the city centre without having to go too far. This is manageable, even for mums with prams, or little ones that are not used to walking far distances.

Along the way, there will be an array of activities. These will include yoga, chalk painting, trickery shows, jumping castles, face-painting, giant chess, and soccer. In addition, there are food and refreshment stalls to keep participants well satisfied, as well as music and dancing for fun-loving party people. The theme of these walks is “play”, in order to encourage folk to leave the stresses and strains of city life behind them and focus on the fun and adventure to be found just minutes away from your home or guest house.

Locals businesses, schools and individuals can also participate in another way – by bringing their own activities and inviting other walkers to “play”. This is about connecting with other people, bridging gaps and making your social and cultural circle so much bigger.

This is an initiative of the Cape Town Partnership, who is working together with a number of other contributors for a really successful, fun event.
