About Inanda Dam
This is the definition of serenity...the massive, tranquil Inanda Dam is secluded in the Valley of a Thousand Hills in KwaZulu-Natal; and it's all about gorgeous views and fun water activities.
Did you know? The Inanda Dam Bass Classic fishing competition is a notable event here that draws angling travellers to the area every year since its beginning in 1998.
The dam is fewer than 50 kilometres from Durban and is ideal for family getaways over the weekend. Swim, fish, yacht, canoe and jet ski on the water while you and the family take in these beautiful surroundings.
There are also ablutions and braai facilities for day visitors, as well as a play area for energetic little ones.
The dam has been built across the Umgeni River, which eventually meets the Indian Ocean at Blue Lagoon in Durban, about 30 kilometres away. It has a surface area of 1463 hectares and a length of 595 metres.
The countryside around Inanda Dam is characterised by rugged, gorgeous mountains that loom over their visitors. This creates a really scenic setting that outdoor enthusiasts love and enjoy during their time in KZN.
Explore the trails around the dam and look out for the zebra and duikers that call this home. What a special place to experience when you book accommodation in Durban.
