Elephant Walk in Colleen Glen has been known to Port Elizabeth locals for generations, who have savoured the French and Belgian influences in this homely restaurant. The décor is distinctly “country” in style, with warm colours, brickwork and a lot of collectables that give Elephant Walk its character.
Chef Mauro, who has had a number of successful restaurants in Port Elizabeth, has recently become involved in the Elephant Walk kitchen after his restaurant was flooded in the rains of 2012. He has introduced an Italian menu that ranges from traditional pastas and pizzas to authentic Italian dishes from his home country.
An outdoor eating area is situated in the garden, in which there is a children’s play area for families. There is also a farm stall that stocks fresh organic fruit and vegetables, preserves, breads, goods for the home, and plenty more. An antique store is just next door to the farm stall, creating a sort of farm village around the Elephant Walk restaurant.
