About Mullineux Family Wines
In the heart of the wild and beautiful Swartland is a small family winery producing fine hand-crafted wines. In an area that is challenging to grow vines with an abundance of hills, Paardeberg and Picketberg Mountains within Riebeeck Kasteel, the family follows a minimalist procedure to their winemaking. Together with groups of growers with sustainable farming practices, they do not add or take anything out of their wines. Mullineux Family wines can be described as pure as they have not had any acids, tannins, filtering agents or yeasts added to them.
They grow the following varietals; Syrah (which is their focus),Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Voignier. Their wines are made with the intention of baring the true nature of the Swartland in each bottle. Because Swartland grapes offer lot in the way of their character and natural extract, the winemakers go easy on the extraction to maintain the elegance of the wines. Their Syrah reveals the true expression of the granite, shale and schist terroirs in which they grow. It is best served at 16- 18 degrees Celius and will benefit from decanting if you drink it within the first three to five years of its bottling.
