About Take A Stroll On Military Path
The Military Path in Hogsback is both beautiful and interesting. This short and comfortable walk takes you on a journey into the past, where life grew for over 100 years and history was made.
The path was used as a travel-shoot for British soldiers who were making their way between Fort Hare and Fort Michel. Interestingly it is believed that a specific tree called Hangman’s Tree was used as a means of execution for those soldiers that were considered deserters – the tree can be found in Redcoat Lane.
Surrounded by tree life, the walk is a spectacular sight see. The air is fresh and the bird life is vibrant, so have your camera fully charged and ready to capture some memorable moments.
The walk along Military Path is an easy 2km walk that takes no more than 40 minutes to complete. The path starts at Red Coat Lane (Village Green), and brings you to a close at Alice (Hogsback road).
